Ear Cleaning Using Microsuction

At Ivory Hearing, ear cleaning process is carried out by our university graduated audiologists from Melbourne. They utilise curette technique and using microsuction machine. These are gentle and safe ways to remove excess wax from the ear canal. Hence the benefits include immediate results, minimal discomfort, reduced risk of infection. The procedure is quick and can be performed in less than half an hour. It is recommended to use eardrops to soften the earwax prior to coming in for your earwax earwax removal appointment.

This earwax removal process is suitable for everyone. If you have various conditions, such as perforated eardrums, grommets, diabetes, current ear infections or other conditions, microsuction is considered the safest and most effective method of ear wax removal. In addition, the whole process is administered by our expert audiologists using direct visualization of ear canal to ensure thoroughness and safety.

Dear Shuey, I am writing to you to thank you for your excellent service and understanding. As you know, my hearing loss (even with my previous Government-provided hearing aids) was deteriorating over a number of years. My previous audiologist advise me that he could not adjust my hearing aids any louder. So I went to get a review of my hearing at your Warrandyte clinic. Much to my delight, I was fitted with new hearing aids and with your expertise and guidance, my hearing capacity improved dramatically. Thanks again for your kindness and understanding.

I have put off having a hearing test for a long while knowing that I do have hearing loss due to working in engine rooms on ships, oil rigs, trawlers etc for many years. I was having trouble hearing the TV and discussion in meetings at work when in a large room. I had always thought that the loudness of TV & meetings are okay but could not make out the words. I guess I was reluctant to admit that I needed help and, at my age, not keen to be wearing hearing aids. After testing and looking at the options, I have chosen ITE (In-the-ear) hearing aids and I am very happy with them. I have to remember to take them out when having shower or going to bed as they are so comfortable I forget I am wearing them. I would recommend Ivory Hearing to any prospective hearing aid buyer for excellent pressure-free, friendly advice & service!

Frequently Asked Questions

At Ivory hearing, our Melbourne trained audiologists wear a headlight with 3D lenses and a direct bright light for continuous observation of the ear canal and eardrum, then insert a micro-suction catheter into the ear canal to “vacuum” the earwax. The procedure is well-tolerated by patients and is considered safe and efficient in removing excess wax.

Micro suction wax removal is suitable for children. It can be more comfortable than other methods and can be adjusted for acceptance. However, the assistance of a parent is required during the procedure to soften any nerves children may have.

Microsuction wax removal can be performed on individuals with a perforated eardrum. This safe and effective technique, performed by an experienced registered Audiologist, allows for direct visualization and thorough removal of wax, minimizing the risk of complications inside your ear and is an effective way to remove wax.

There are minimal risks associated with microsuction wax removal. The procedure is performed by experienced professionals, ensuring safety and thoroughness. Complications are rare, making it a well-established and widely used technique for ear wax removal, much more preferable to ear syringing or ear irrigation.

ear condition, etc.

The effects of micro suction wax removal can vary from person to person. In general, the procedure provides immediate relief from blocked ears and improved hearing. However, the duration of the effects may depend on individual factors such as the amount of wax and the underlying ear conditions. It is recommended to have regular check-ups every 6 to 12 months to maintain good ear wax management and prevent future blockages, further reducing the risk of infection.
