12th-18th July is National Diabetes Week. Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic disease in Australia, and we are encouraging the one million Australians with diabetes to get a hearing test.
Several health studies identified a link between hearing loss and diabetes. The high blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels in the inner ear, thus disrupting sound reception and causing hearing difficulty.
People with diabetes are twice more likely to experience hearing loss than those without. If you have diabetes, and have not had your hearing and ears checked recently, please contact us and book an appointment for either a quick 15-minute FREE hearing screening or a full hearing assessment.
Our audiologist can advise you ways of managing your hearing health.
